About

Mindy Marx, LCSW
Founder of Reflections Psychotherapy, P.C.

Since childhood, Mindy has been fascinated by people’s life stories and the human spirit’s capacity for resilience.  She is naturally intuitive, empathetic, and a keen observer of human nature.  Along with her caring inquisitiveness, Mindy has always been committed to her own personal growth.  It was a culmination of these qualities that that led Mindy to become a psychotherapist.

Whether it be a life situation that is particularly emotionally challenging, or a general unhappiness with the direction of one’s life, Mindy understands the challenges of making changes in oneself. She believes that people generally have a great deal of innate wisdom to affect change, but sometimes need assistance in accessing that wisdom.

Selecting a therapist to partner in the journey of self discovery and change is an important decision.  Mindy emphasizes that finding a good fit in philosophy and personal style is just as important as a therapist’s credentials and experience. She is honored to be entrusted by her clients to guide them on their path towards a better life, and does so with a directive, warm and engaging approach.

Mindy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist.  She earned her BA in Psychology from Indiana University, and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati.  As an indication of her commitment to ongoing professional growth and development, Mindy attained a Post-Masters Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Family Institute at Northwestern University. Additionally, she is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and has done extensive training in the treatments of both eating disorders and sexual abuse.

Throughout her career, Mindy has worked in community mental health, hospital, and group private practice settings.  She served as the Clinical Coordinator of a Partial Hospital Eating Disorders program, where she helped develop a program to meet the unique needs of children and adolescents with eating disorders.  Through her work in each of these settings, Mindy gained experience working with individuals, couples and families, along with leading numerous psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups.

In 2004 Mindy began her own private practice.  Although she has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults, Mindy finds herself now working primarily with older adolescents and adults.  She has also added consultation services for other mental health providers, sharing her specialized knowledge and experience.  As she has evolved in her own life and as a therapist, Mindy founded Reflections Psychotherapy in 2012.  She is excited about all the possibilities that will follow.

pales in comparison to what lies inside of you”
