Mindy Marx, LCSW
Founder of Reflections Psychotherapy, P.C.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have found myself fascinated by people’s life stories and the human spirit’s capacity for resilience. I am a keen observer of human nature, and am frequently commended for my warm, intuitive and empathic nature. These qualities, paired with a high commitment to my own personal growth, inevitably lead me to becoming a psychotherapist.
Through my own personal work, as well as my experiences with clients, I understand the challenges of making changes in oneself. I believe that people generally have a great deal of innate wisdom to affect change, but sometimes need assistance to accessing that wisdom. Selecting that partner in the journey of self discovery and change is an important decision. Finding a “good fit” in philosophy and personal style, is just as important as a therapist’s credentials and experience. Over the years I have had the privilege to assist many clients as they have walked the path towards a more fulfilling life.
I have been in practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 30 years. I earned my BA in Psychology from Indiana University and my Masters in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati. In addition to my degrees, I have completed a Post-Masters Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Family Institute at Northwestern University, as well as an EMDRIA approved training program in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Over the years I have done extensive trainings focused on the treatments of eating disorders and trauma, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) informed care. I have a strong commitment to continued learning, and my treatment approaches have shifted over time to integrate new developments in my field.
Prior to opening my private practice in 2004, I have had experience working in community mental health, hospital and group private practice settings. I served as the Clinical Coordinator of a Partial Hospital Program for Eating Disorders where I was fortunate to help in the development of a program to meet the unique needs of children and adolescents with eating disorders. Through my work in these settings, I gained experience working with individuals, couples and families, along with opportunities to lead numerous groups.
While my experiences working across the life cycle have been varied, at this time my primary focus is in working with adults (18+) and providing consultation services to other mental health providers.

pales in comparison to what lies inside of you”
